    Hi all,

I have recently purchased an A4 1.9TDi on an 'X' 2000. It is an SE and has the Concert I (single DIN) radio and cassette player, I have seen a Symphony I (double DIN) CD, radio and cassette player that I would like to fit into my A4.

My Audi has climate control, will I be able to fit a Symphony into a car that comes with a Concert.

Does it need 're-wiring' or is the ISO connector the same for the concert and the symphony?

What I am trying to get at, is it a simple matter of swapping them over, or would it be best left well alone? Could you please give me any advice on the matter it would be much appreciated!!

    Thanks in advance

Its a job many people look into doing and shy away from! I've looked extensively into the job myself for the purpose of changing the single DIN Concert for the Navigation unit, its an fairly straight forward job if your handy with your tool box, but takes a little time. Here's the instructions i've put together from my research. Basically, the cage that mounts the existing Concert unit & climate control box needs to be replaced with a double DIN unit involving the removal of existing radio & climate box & then removing the mounting cage from within the centre consol. Your shiny new double DIN cage can then be mounted in its place ready to take the double DIN Symphony stereo. Now comes the fun bit! Your existing climate box will now no longer fit, so you've got 2 choices, either buy one thats designed for a double DIN install or the cheaper option is trim your existing one to fit. The only difference basically is the face plate is narrower at the bottom on a double DIN install, its otherwise the same unit! Make a paper template of the slot and mark out your existing unit, carefully trim using stanley knife blade the plastic a little at a time and use a fine grade file/wet & dry paper to tidy the edges. As with any trimming job, just keep trying & trimming until it looks perfect & fits well. Just slot it back in & away you go. As for wiring the connections are the same so nothing needed there. The alternative to the above is pay someone £600+ to do it for you, plenty of companies dotted about the country that will do it, a bit of googling needed to find someone.

Thank you very much for the reply, I'll think we'll have to leave it for now.
