    Default 2003 Passat CV Spline to Hub Connection – 31-08-2011,07:31 PM
    Yet another problem with my 2003 Passat TDi!!

    In the last couple of weeks I have heard the occasional 'clunk' coming from the near side front wheel area. On Saturday the allen bolt that holds the hub onto the end of the CV/drive shaft snapped resulting in a total loss of drive.

    I have had the car recovered to a mechanic who has managed to extract the rest of the bolt, but it seems to both him and myself that the end of the CV does not seem long enough ti go right into the hub.

    There only seems to be 5-6mm of the splined end of the CV in the hub. It seems the splined end should be longer. Is this as it should be or is there something wrong?

    Does not sound right to me, maybe a part has been changed incorrectly? eg cv joint, hub etc
