Anyone have experience selling B8 A4 less than two years old?

I'm trying to sell my 59 plate A4 S-line 2.0 TDI saloon. Has anyone ever done this? How long did it take to sell?

I'm not about the price and the spec looks fairly sparce but its a great car anyway.

I tried to sell through Auto Trader and found it to be a waste of time, too many tyre kickers and people trying to deal on the phone without ever seeing the car!

It took me about 5 weeks to sell to a genuine seller and my car had loads of extra's (just like my new one) in the end I had two guys outbidding each other which was fortunate.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on with all the calls from people telling you that your car is overpriced!!!

Going from what I've seen on autotrader and other sites, I think yours is reasonably priced tbh mate.

I've looking to part-ex my current B7 in, so been visiting alot of traders. It seems that they may be struggling to shift a few themselves with some being advertised for 6-8 weeks now and others being reduced heavily in an attempt to shift them.

How long have you had it up for? I think you'll just need to hold tight and wait for the right buyer to come across it. I think you would still have interest if people where interested but thought the price too high, they'd most likely ring up and ask whether there was any movement in the price.

Where else should I advertise to get the right buyer? Nick, what do you use? I'm hoping it will be a bit less than five weeks if I can. Basically I can't be bothered with the phone calls and explanations for the next five weeks!

I found my buyer through ebay, although it was when it was relisted that it sold to someone who had been watching it first time round to see what price it top out at!

Although I got more than I was offered as a px, I did not think it worth the time and effort and so I think that next time I will just stick to a px.

Selling in a car is like selling anything, hard work!

Nick you can say that again! I'm so glad I'm not a car salesman. It is quite stressful. Did you reduce the price when you delisted on eBay or keep it the same?

When I relisted I stuck to the same price although I did reduce the reserve.

The actual sale took place outside ebay so the bidding price and reserve proved unnecessary.

I sold my A4 diesel B7 Avant a few months ago which was immac with about 59K miles. It was a hell of a job compared to other times that I have sold comparative cars.
For some time I thought the phones were broken due to the extreme lack of calls. I posted some excellent pics and a thorough description and it still took over a month.
The market is very tough in this sector.
A trader with no vested interest told me that £3K Ford Focuses were selling ok but £10K+ cars weren't, although at the super luxury end sales were okay strangely.

When I sold my B6 Avant 4 1/4 years ago, with 50K on it I got within £400 of the asking price in about 18 hours from the advert going in. How times have changed.
