Head light notification

Can anyone tell me What light I am suppose to get on the dash to tell me I've got my headlights on?
Just I put them on the other day and couldn't tell they where on.
On the switch the light for the sidelights turns from red to green but when I put main dipped beam on nothing changes.

As far as I am aware there is no icon for dipped beam- only the sidelights.

It can be coded to work with vcds.

Enabling headlight lamp in Instrument cluster

Audi A4 B7

Go to the Instrument Cluster module (17)
Make a note of the coding
-2 form the coding in the ?? part - 00??xxx

Mine was 0006411 , recoded to 0004411 and voila the instrument cluster sidelight lamp lights up.

So just confirm that the light on the switch doesnt change color when you switch it from side to main, like it does for the fogs?

the reason why i'm asking is that i resently bought a new switch at the cost of £80 ouch and i thought i change color on the last one

Yes on both my previous b7 and current one the lights were
All off- red
Sides on- green
Front fog- green
Rear fog- amber
Main on- red

The switch stays the same with side lights and headlights on , changing the code with vcds turn the side light symbol in the dash on , ill post a picture when i can.
