Given oil pump, injectors & DPF issues - What year 2.0tdi is the least risky??

Hi,

I'm looking into buying a B7 2.0tdi avant and came across this forum. I have to say I'm shocked at the nature of the mechanic faults and amazed at AUDI stance to concerned customers.

I've been a long time fan of the VAG cars and I had my heart set on a 2005 B7, but with the chain driven oil pump system used I decided to avoid that year. Then I find out about the 2006 injector failures and the hex drive problems on the gear driven pump!

Has AUDI designed out these problems on the later 2.0tdi engines? Is a 57 plate 2.0tdi guaranteed to have double sealed injector, gear driven oil pump with longer hardened hex shafts and concentric balancer shafts?

Or should I just focus on trying to find a good 1.9tdi B7?

It's a shame to see such a good car ruined by poor design and development.

After a lot of reading, I reckon I'll start looking for a good B6 instead!
