Must be Climatronic. You will need a code read to establish what the system thinks is wrong.

I've just had another 'fiddle' with it and the fan does'nt operate on any setting, could it be the that if the resistor fails on Climatronic that i get no blow and only works on 4/max on standard AC? (as in my old Bora)

Just spoke to my local VW dealer and it seems like the resistor is built into the fan unit which costs nearly £300 + fitting! No good for a 4 year old car surely?

Yes the climatronic has a built in speed controller rather than a simple resistor pack and yes it is expensive.

I have the exact same problem happen today! All lights on the climatic working, but window still misting, then noticed that there was no blow. Adjusted to full speed but still nothing. Where did you get your new fan for that price and did they also fit or did you DIY? If so, how easy a job is it? Many thanks in advance.

My local garage got it for me using his discount but GSF is the place to start. It was fairly easy to fit once you have the glove box out, i think there is a walkthrough on here somewhere.

Well if there's a walkthrough I'd love to know where. Dropped the glovebox out today, but cannot see anyway of dropping the motor out without dismantling a vast number of bits! People have said about a bolt and a clip, then just twisting it out. I can't find either and it certainly won't twist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
