Hope this hasn't been answered before, I did search first.

I would like to turn off the Xenons as the DRL but keep on the side lights.

Is this possible via VCDS Vag-Com???

    Cheers

You mean turn off the DRLs in your Xenons so you still have the side light position?

Yes you need VAG-COM\VCDS to disable the DRLs.

    Do you have VAG-COM\VCDS?

How to disable DRL on your VW Golf (mk6), set the foglights as DRL, or adjust DRL brightness

Eeek... Didn't describe it very well...

At the moment I have the switch set to auto.

The xenons are the DRL with the smaller 501 side lights on as well.

Ideally I would like the smaller side lights to be the DRL only and the xenons on auto.

Doesn't look possible to me DRL is all or nowt

No the Xenons aren't DRLs the DRLs are seperate 15w bulbs, that where your text is confusng.

The Auto position on the switch just switches the headlamps on when it goes dim/dark enough without you having to switch them on. The side lamps are a different circuit which is operated by the next position after Auto.

Yep Micro-Can - for the simple things that VW charge £30 plus a pop for...

Deffo only the xenon and the side light below. No extra bulbs. bit gutted that it didn't come with the xenon/led combo. Just got the rear LEDs

I was going to replace the 501 with an led can bus friendly one and use these as the DRL if possible.

Given he has posted in the Mk6 Golf section, it's safe to say he isn't driving a Ford Focus.
