I have a mk 6 10 reg GT with the touch phone kit. My sony K750i connects, synchronises and calls OK but will disconnect after 30 seconds whether it is an outgoing or incoming call. The phone then needs to be restarted to reconnect. I am looking to change my phone shortly and wondered if anyone has a phone that works with this kit. Car bought ex demo so not my choice.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like you have the bluetooth kit that uses SAP (sim access profile) to connect.
Great kit, if you can find a phone that works. Ask VW for a list of compatible phones and they'll all be 5 years out of date.
You can virtually guarantee connection with a Nokia (the kit is made by them), but support from other phones is pretty variable.
I've tried various bits of kit with differing success, but the best luck I've had with a modern phone is a Samsung Galaxy S with the latest software. Calls connect just fine, but the phone book doesn't sync. To get round this I put my numbers on an old nokia, put my sim card into the Nokia, paired the Nokia with the car, synced the address book, put the sim card back into the Samsung and finally paired that.
A bit of a faff, but neater than installing an after-market solution once you're done.
The one watch out from me - I don't think you can guarantee any of this will work. It depends to some extent on the software on your phone and in the car, but this solution works for me.
    Good luck!

In Spain we had a Seat Altea XL as a rental. My HTC Desire S happily synced with it, phonebook and calls were fine. Not sure that this is the same system as in the Golf, it had the RCD 310 radio and multifunction steering wheel. The Desire S is a great phone- I'd recommend it anyway.

Nokia are bringing out a range of new smartphones running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, which I'd recommend too. They'll be out in early September apparently. Windows Phone 7 is a fantastic OS, really easy to use and looks great too. I'm waiting on them, as I'm due an upgrade! Whatever you do, don't get one of Nokia's Symbian phones, it's a horrible OS and pales in comparison to Android, iOS and WP7.
    2002 Polo 9n 1.2 65PS. Basic but it's better than the train!
