Firstly apologies for posting yet another post about this ECON mode pain.

I have read numerous posts on here but believe that my problem is slightly different.

My air con has always worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago. I pressed the ECON Button on my AC Control unit and activated the economy mode. I then pressed the AUTO button and resumed normal air con. Later that day I tried to go into ECON mode but it was as if the button was failing to work and it decided it that it would stay in AUTO (normal air con) mode. Eventualy it worked (went into ECON mode). At the time I thought that the button might be a bit dodgy. I then pressed the AUTO button to put the air con back on.

The next day I set off driving and noticed that the car was a bit warm, looking down I noticed that the car was in ECON mode. I thought it was a bit wierd but just pressed the AUTO button and everything was chilly soon enough. A bit later in the day the ECON button illuminated and has stayed on ever since. If I switch the ignition on and press the ECON button straight away then the light will go off for about a second before re illuminating and then refusing to go off. I believe that the system will go into ECON mode if there is a problem with the system.

I read on here that a re-gass sometimes remedies air con issuses so I took the car for a re-gass. Situation no change. I then called out a bloke called the AC Wizard who came and had what can only really be described as a quick look. He checked for leaks and found none, then he informed me that the pressure on one side (high/low) was higher than the other side and that he thought that they should both be roughly equal (I'm not sure if this is right ot not)

I have had my car scanned and it came up with no faults.

    Help.

Did he test the pressure switch was operating at the correct pressure. I suspect that could be the problem. Regards Peter

Usually pressure switch . £35 from Audi (when I got mine 2-3 years ago).
It's worth the money just to eliminate it !! Go for it .

Cheers blokes, I think I'll go for that option first.

Where is the pressure switch located? Can I fit it myself? will any gas escape etc?

Looking from front of car- its to the right of drivers headlight. No need to remove headlight at all. takes 5 mins to change . get a new 'o' ring for new valve too.
    easy peasy .

I assume that no gas escapes?

I have located the pressure switch, is that all I ask audi for "a pressure switch" or will they know it as something else. Sorry if this feels like an online interrogation.

They will know what you mean- they sell lots of them- seeing it's a very common fault .
