Just found on annoying feature when unloading at the tip :

When you reverse up and then get out you have to wait for the Badge to drop down before you can open the Back "all looking at you wondering why you dont open it !"
I have tried turning it off by the switch but once you have put it reverse the badge stops up even if you turn it off you can only disable the buzer or turn the camera off but the badge stops up till you leave reverse or turn ignition off boof have a delay

Have you tried pressing and holding the boot button on the key fob? Doesn't that open it?

So if the little motor fails or the mechanism jams, you can't get in the boot!

Still a neat way to keep the camera clean.

What annoys me is the radio reducing the volume when reversing.
Golf Match 2.0 tdi 140 Bluemotion tech, fogs, folding mirrors. Reversing camera didn't make it, so enjoying DAB.

Other motor is a Nissan Pathfinder.

No I suspect if it fails it will be just as a normal boot handle as it wont stop in the up position " Hopefully"

Well there is obviously something in the electronics that stops the hatch unlocking while you are reversing else when you drive of forward you would have the hatch open warning on the MFD. If you search YouTube for golf mk6 rear camera there is quite a delay after its taken out of reverse before the camera switches off.

I'm afraid if you want this fancy gadget you are going to have to put up with it?

Found a way round it if you press the boot open button on the keyfob before you reverse the boot pops open on first catch so when engage reverse it does not open the catch so boot can be opened !
