    Hi
Sorry to be pain but new to this game. 06 passat 65000 on clock
I have had the day from hell, took my Passat in as it was making a funny noise, sounds like hunting without the usual show on the revs. Had new tensioner, cambelt and waterpump, but still not fixed.
Took to VW dealership (or *********** as I have seen mentioned) they say I need a new flywheel, oil pump at a sum of £1800. When discussing with them about the noise and the bits that had been replaced it was mentioned about a camshaft tensioner or similar, which could be mistaken for a noise in the head, which is what I had previously been told the problem might be!!! However this was not diagnosed by a mechanic, but a service desk employee who had not listened to the vehicle(although had 30 yrs experience on the spanners).
I asked the question is it safe to drive to be told yes, but obviously not on and on and on.
7 miles down the road and oil pressure light illuminates and car tells me to stop.
All these things seem common problems, can anyone help me with proving this so I can take my case to Customercare.
First VW I have had and maybe the last at this rate

Because there crap, But my go I love mine either way.

It is a shame lots of people have issues. My A4 had the same reputation as do most other manufacturers models nowadays, My Saab 9-3 TTiD was the worst for me, I spent over £5k before i gave up on it and realised how much it was actually costing, was not even worth that when i sold it.

It is easy to say dont give up especially when you have a huge bill ahead of you but there are worst cars, like they say you never hear positive reviews, all ways the bad ones. if you do get repaired hopefully all the issues will be behind you and you can begin to enjoy what a fantastic car you own.

Just my thoughts. Not much help in getting the car repaired, sorry.
Corsa - But want an Audi!!!

    Hi Smudge,

I have a 2.0 tdi pd sport saloon with the dsg box and I love it!!!. I have owned this car nearly 2yrs of trouble free motoring

Due to get my company car very soon but due to tax band it will be a B7 2.0 tdi cr sport manual estate.

As I will be getting the injectors replaced very soon I'm reluctant to get rid. I love the dsg box and the auto hold .

I would go as far as to say the passat is a great car.

And as any forum you will only hear about the bad things.

This is not just VW this any manufacture.

    Thats how I see it.

    Hth's,

    Rappy.

My 58 plate has just gone over the 180 000k, and a heater switch the only thing gone wrong, have a new b7 on order due in about 4 - 6 weeks.
My previous b6 did 170 000k and had the fuel pump in the tank go, and switch on dash for h/brak
B5 before did 165 000k with nothing wrong at all.
we have a Mazda 6 in the fleet that lives at the garage so much goes wrong on it. The worst car on the fleet a Alfa 159, looks great, but not sure what will fall off next.
B5 then B6 now B7 2.0tdi Estate, These cars are getting better each time.

Oh man, if only you'd been here earlier, when they said the oil pump you should've just parked it up there and then, this is a 55-56 plate car?

Very well known fault, and effects 55-56 Passats and all 2.0 Skoda Superb's, if I was you I would either try to PX it for what you can get or break it, it's going to cost a minimum £1500 to sort out now and thats if you only need a turbo and a pump, expect £3- £4k if it's more damaged, VAG should be more accountable for this, they will assist in some cases, but a lot of the time it still costs as much with the assistance, pop over to Briskoda and look in the Superb section for Skodanut, he can tell you all you need to know about this when it happens.
