My engine [petrol] has started to vibrate and is noisy above 3000 rpm. Seems to be at the top near the belts end, stationary or driving. Removed belt cover and belts and tensions are fine. [belts 5000 miles old] Nothing external loose. Oil/filter change did not help. How could I check if the cam/ hyd lifters are working correctly? engine power and fuel consumption seem normal. This car has always had a rattly cam sound on cold start/idle, but the above is new and I wish to fix myslef if possible. 60,000 slow miles!! no warning lights showing.
    Please advise.
