    Hi to all,

Question car is Audi A4 B6 TDI (96 kw -AVF engine). I have notice that breather pipe from camshaft cover is supplying oil to intercooler and air intake pipes making a mess around entrance in pipe from air filter to turbo and mess around EGR valve. I suppose that also intake manifold from inside is also in mess.

My intention is to improvise an oil catch can by my own but with difference that I do not want to return these gases back to inlet pipe of turbo. This outgoing pipe from catch can, I want to place inside of air filter box (before air filter) or to place inside right wing panel (to go in environment).

Please advise if somebody did similar things(your experience) and are there any reasons that I should not disconnect this pipe a let the gases out of engine.

    Thanks in advance

I have a catch can, it maintains the system though, doesn't vent to atmosphere. Mine gave 500ml of oily gunky stuff a few months ago and usually gives 100mm of oily/fuely/watery crud per 1000miles. That would have gone back into the engine, so pleased to have installed it. I wouldn't want mine going to atmosphere though as, wherever it vents, would end up filthy and yukky.

    Hi again,

I did the job yesterday. I made a catch can (as shown in picture No. 1) from plastic bottle. On the side is inlet for breather hose of the engine and on the top is outlet. Then I place this catch can inside of the right wing, behind headlight (as per picture No. 2). I put outlet pipe (from catch can) inside of the right wing panel and above air intake (as per picture No.3).

The problem now is that vapor from breather is coming into cabin through air condition unit which intake is situated on the right side near outlet of the catch can. I do not want to contaminate the persons inside of the car.

I am thinking to abandon this project and to return everything on its place as before.

Even, I am afraid, that the vapor from engine will not discharge so fast and in such quantities as it was before discharged by the inlet of the turbo charger.

So, I am thinking to return everything on it's place and to make a good cleaning of the air intake system (piping, inter-cooler, EGR valve, Air intake manifold and cylinder head inlet entrance).

    Any comment is welcome.

    Thanks in advance

    Novica

    New Update,

I returned everything as it was before. I have checked inter-cooler, and there was few drops of oil, there is a film of oil but nothing to worry, I suppose. Tomorrow afternoon I will clean air inlet manifold and cylinder head inlet entrance.

    Cheers
