    Hello,

Can anyone point me to a walk-through of how tell if the cam belt etc has been changed? I am sure i saw the anwser on the forum but now cant find it!

Reason is I brought my 1999 2.8 from a garage who said they would do the 80k service as part of the pre sales prep and it hasn't been stamped.

I'm pretty sure it hasnt been done as I had to top up the power steering fluid, change the rear wiper blade and the top up the windscreen washer fluid in the first week. I'm going down there this morning to sort it out but want to double check they haven't done the work and forgot to stamp the book before I blow a fuse at them.

Also is there a list of what else should be done at the 80k service interval?

    Thanks for any help.

If in doubt, get it changed but few garages have the correct locking tools and most bodge the job by marking the pulleys with paint, that should also give you a clue if it's be done, if there are paint marks on the pulleys.

i would just get it changed. when i got my 1.8 turbo couple month back i was told the cambelt had bin done......no way of proving it so with dad bin a mechanic came in handy we stripped the front off and it had obv had a recent cambelt but fitted very poorly the whole thing not fitted right it was even wearing the platic covers away. And if a cambelt snaps good bye car. if you do it atleast you know it done and when
