Hi all just bought the car few days ago and realised the blower does not work at all i have replaced the motor as that was shattered to bits (plastic fins), I get a good power reading to the actual motor plug just wont spin UNLESS i put a direct earth to it but then only spins at full speed with no way of controlling it through the climatronic unit itself just after a bit of info as cant seem to find any posts or info on this particular problem usually all comes down to brushes which i know it isnt as it spins when earth is applied

thanks to all who can help

Well finally got it sorted turned out to be the actual climatronic unit itself had malfunctioned,Big thanks for everyones help and suggestions

A fault code diagnosis will help but from what you say I suspect the fan power controller amp has failed. This is mounted in the air duct behind the clove bax. Worth checking it has not melted or the connector is burnt. J126 is the controller and it provides the earth for the motor speed control. Power is a direct feed to the motor form Fuse S225 30 Amp. Regards Peter

Hi peter thanks for the response is that the part that has a red plastic cover and has a number of prongs when removed from the housing, is there any way of testing it ie. should there be any voltage in certain points that you know of? cheers buddy

It is retained by a single screw and has a three pin connector. Pin 3 is ground, pin 2 is output to the fan motor and pin one is a low level control voltage from the A/C control unit. Regards Peter

Ok i have replaced the resistor pack behind glovebox still no fan working at all, there is power to the fan plug all fuses are fine and have power to them display is still flashing when ignition is turned on. Fan works at full speed when a direct earth is attached, is there a relay which could be causing this problem really beggining to get annoying now especially with all the rain and misting up the windows

It is not a resistor pack but a Mosfet power amp. This controls the current with a signal from the A/C unit. It appears that this may be the problem. You need a diagnostic read to identify the problem. Find someone on here with Vagcom / VDCS in your area or a VAg independant. Regards Peter
