Thought I'd post up some pictures of what my valves and inlet tract looked like when I recently opened it up. The car has done 50k miles and been run on 98RON minimum since 35k miles (when I bought it). Car is also a 2004, early B7 registration. It has also been on the shortlife service schedule since bought by me using dealer approved (not sure of the grade) oil.

I'm only showing one of the inlets as they were all pretty much in the same condition.

As you can see, the valves are quite heavily coated and the "splitter plate" which sits before them was also heavily coated.

I cleaned them all up with toothbrushes and carburetter cleaner, including the injectors.

Torque, rather than power has improved since.
