Radiator Fan

Hi , there have been a number of threads ref radiator fans not running , the problem i have with my 57 reg 2L TDI is that one of the radiator fan will run from cold as soon as the ignition is turned on (looking from front of car the right hand side fan) , does the Engine Temp Sensor fail in this way , i have not yet had a diagnosis carried out (still deciding which unit to buy) , any thoughts , many thanks Geoff .

This can be a CAN BUS issue where the fan controller cannot see the engine temperature so it assumes it is overheating and makes the fan run. A fault code read is the first step, only buy a genuine full VCDS cable, nothing else makes any sense whatsoever.
