hi, I'm brand new to this forum and in need of some help with my 1995 Golf Cabriolet, which, on account of its age seems to be developing a whole host of problems the most concerning right now is the central locking.
On Monday morning I couldn't get into my car with the remote locking fob, it was disabling the alarm but the doors weren't unlocking. I tried the key in the passenger door and it wouldn't even turn, in the drivers door all it did was open the rear window! Then after repeatedly pressing the fob the drivers door unlocked (passenger didn't). Since then the fob does not unlock the car (apart from very occasionally), the key is now unlocking the drivers door without opening my rear window but my boot will not unlock and, as I discovered this evening, I cannot get into my petrol cap!!
I checked the forum and there seems to be a way of manually opening the petrol cap BUT i need to access my boot which I can't because its permanently locked!!! DISASTER!
Can anyone offer any advice or give me an indication as to what is causing this problem? I thought maybe its the battery in the fob thats running down (would that cause this?) but I'm scared to take the fob apart to take the battery out incase I break that and then I'm really stuffed!!!
Really really appreciate any help/advice!! Thanks!!
