    Hi all,
Getting my windscreen replaced as I have a big crack getting bigger and bigger the more I drive. I have question about the seals. Ive called National Windscreens (insurance approved) to do it, will they reuse my existing seals or do they put new ones in?

If they reuse the existing one, how much would a new windscreen seal set me back (tried calling audi, but their system has crashed so they cant check based on my reg).

    I'm on Y reg with 5 doors.

    Thanks

    Jalz

Got my windscreen replaced, got a trim so it all looks good. I've been told I need a new skuttle, as the 'teeth' at the bottom seem to be missing and he could've of bonded it to the screen. I was told that its only a cosmetic thing as this should not affect the way the windscreen is held into place.

Anyone know what a skuttle is and whether I should get it replaced (im guessing its a clip of somesort that holds the bottom of the screen in?). He's assured me that no leaks will resulat as of the skuttle, its just sticking out a bit rather then the 'trim' near the wipers being close to the windscreen.

The scuttle panel is the trim that sits beneath your wipers it clips into the screen all the way along the bottom. If it's not clipped in properly water can leak into your pollen filter which sits underneath. This can then lead to water leaking into your passenger footwell.
Technically you should be able to get it replaced by the company if you ring them up and say it wasn't broken before.

I replaced my scuttle cover when I cracked it trying to get the wipers off, they get quite brittle with age so could have a job getting the windscreen company to cough up for it. Think mine was about £70, you need to swap the washer jets and electrics across but apart from that pretty simple.
