    Hi,

I've just purchased a 2007 1.9 TDI 115 SE Audi A4. First point has to be, I love it! I previously had a 2002 1.6 petrol Vauxhall Astra with 120,000 miles so I'm sure you can all appreciate how much of a step up this is!

I love everything about the car, apart from one thing. The MPG calculator on the trip computer seems to reset itself for each journey. So I jump in the car on a morning and it resets, I drive 20/30 miles to work and it gets enough information to work out a fair MPG figure. Park the car up and 8 hours later get in to drive home, reset!!

It only seems to reset if the period between driving is large, e.g. if I call in the supermarket for 20mins it doesn't reset.

Is there anyway to change the settings so that it doesn't reset? I'd just like a constant MPG figure?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Adam

I think you'll find that on the DIS display you'll see a small number 1.
That's the mode the computer is in. It resets 2 hours after switching engine off and that's why you get a new set of figures in the morning and another at after work, but not after going into the supermarket.

I think if you press the reset button along with the display button on the end of the stalk, you'll change the computer to mode 2. Mode 2 counts the figures forever until you manually reset them. So you can work out your mpg over an average of 1000miles if you want. Average speed and average mpg are both based on mileage since last reset so after a while they become static since driving home at 70mph won't affect the average much if it's worked out over 3 months and 3000miles.

    Hope that helps!

Trip/mode 2 resets after 99hrs 59m of operation or 9,999 miles travelled, whichever comes first.

    99hrs is barely 5 days.
mine doesn't reset unless I reset it myself.....mine has been running for several months and something like 3000miles.

Yes I use trip mode 2 for monthly statistics (monthly mileage/time driven/avg. speed etc.) and it doesn't reset.

FYI I find computed MPG is inaccurate unless calibrated with vag-com- you're better off manually calculating using spritmonitor

To get the milage to be the limiting factor would require your average to be over 100mph for 100 hours of driving - nice on Audi! :S
