Gamma RadioCassette

As a new arrival to the Passat owners community, I was wondering if the Gamma unit is generally unreliable or am I just unlucky (3 faulty units from VW dealer in 2 months)?
Are there any better replacement units recommended or is this all VW has?

Don't know generally about these units, but we have had two passats now and not had any problems with the radios.

I have a gamma unit with the VW CD changer in the boot and it's working fine for me without any issues.

I've had VWs before with the Beta unit and that was fine too, so I would suspect that so far you've been very unlucky.

What problems are you having? It may be a problem with the car that's affecting the stereo.

I can concur - got a 98 passat with Gamma r/c and CD changer and it works perfectly...

Just as a quick note, it sounds great with the upgraded 8 Bose speakers on the sport spec.

Like I said, if you've had a problem with 3 of them, let us know what the problem was so we can see if it's a problem with your car.
