I have just purchased a used 2000 Audi S4 that growls. We think we have it narrowed down to the right rear CV joint, cornering left to right does seem to make a difference in the severity of the sound. Does anyone know if this a common problem, could it be the CV joints and if so do they need to be changed in pairs? The car has 80,000 miles, is this normal wear? All 4 tires are new with an all wheel alignment. Please any help or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

CV joints rattle and wheel bearings (or tyres) growl so I doubt it is a CV. I have done a few rear wheel bearings on A4Q's but never a CV.
