Nah - I reckon that repair will be less than the Audi's NBV - A lot less. £1k at most I imagine. It looks like a new lens, pop out dents and rub down/respray to all affected areas hit. Linked direct to the picture for you.

Let his insurance do it, but make sure they don't use some straw crunching mechanic on some on-farm garage do the repair work.

I still say it's going to be repaired - and I think that the car is worth more than £2k as well. Silver Audi A4s are pretty sought after I reckon, and in diesel form more so, due to the reliability of the engine.

Jan 98 will be an R reg will it? Maybe S reg? From looking on Ebay, they still seem to be going for around £3,000.

Yeah, does look repairable, the bigger dent looks like it will push out, filler and paint for the rest, lens and maybe a bumper, remember you decide who fixes,I suppose if your none to happy about driving a damaged repaired and the resale implications when you want to pass it on,then Id be looking for Audi to quote a price to fix, maybe then insurance co will write off. I had my beloved Beamer written off some months back, turned out to be a blessing in disguise, damage really wasnt too bad(rear end). I bought it back from Insurance co at 10% of its value and then resold it as a damaged/repairable and did just fine out of it and buyer was well pleased, everybody happy! I hope all ends well for you, keep us posted.

.ive had a good look at the motor 2day,the bumper is fine, the marks have just rubbed off with me finger, think it was more or less primmer from his bumper. so bearing that in mind, the only damage is the 1/4 and rear light, the rear light trim just popped back in.have been doing a bit of a google on cat c and d discussions.IF!!!!! if it ended up being written off,c or d???

Would be a D if at all. I still say it will be repaired. Now you don't even new a new bumper, it's just a bit of dent popping, rubbing down, making good, and respraying
