I'll decide whether to do it myself when i know exactly what it entails, i haven't come across any how-too guides yet. From a quick look at the PDF of where everything is on the car, it looks like it's scattered around a bit, and i'm assuming i'd need to run some cables front to back? It will take a while to get all the bits as i also have quite an expensive hobby. Bikes are a money pit from which the spending never stops!

What functions am i expecting? Well the color screen for one, and the ability to have the map for the sat nav come up on the screen. The current sat nav is good, but you can't check which route it's taking, which is annoying. I want bluetooth, and an aux input with 3.5mm jack and USB so i can plug in a HD. Also want a DVD player, so guess i will need the TV tuner too? Can't see me ever watching TV in the car, but would be good to play DVD's on long trips, that might stop ALL of my passengers playing Angry Birds like they all did on our recent trip to the French Alps, which drove me nuts as they insisted on having the sound up! Also i am a geek, and want more gadgets

I do have the shark fin on the roof. Is that for the phone? I assumed it was for the Sat Nav.

Oh and i got your PM but can't reply yet, no offense taken
You may aswell fit AMI while you're doing the conversion.

That allows aux, USB and iPod connectivity.

The sharkfin is for the rsap and gps antenna.

You will need to drill your roof and place the sharkfin on there and run the cables.

No worries, when you get chance data sticker be good excercise... it's not an issue what type of PDC system you got... we/installer just need to be aware so it work after the retro... again if you not comfortable no worries use installer... my Audi is like your bikes

You got two routes i)screen mounted center in roof ii) head rest system for DVD playback

Above is your answer, for you 3.5m, HD, etc and the purpose of shark fin...

It looks like you may not need as many elements as some other situations of MMI Basic/Basic Plus to High

So whichever route you go ie home install / installer should be lighter on your wallet

Hey. Sorry for my late response, I never got an email notification. Due to my current financial situation, I'm gonna have to wait for the MMI upgrade. I got about 25 albums onto some CD-R's though so am happy with that for the moment, think I'm just gonna upgrade the speakers and try and incorporate my Vibe divider for now, and try to get Bluetooth fitted. Does anyone know the cheapest way to retrofit Bluetooth? I've tried searching but couldn't find anything specific to MMI Basic Plus. I asked in an Audi dealer and they said that Parrot do one that will fit, but couldn't tell me if it would be controlled by the MMI or not. I don't want the ugly controls stuck on the dashboard!

You can buy the Audi Bluetooth for about £200 which incorporates into the MMI.
