Anyone had problems with the 3.0 TDI 'missing' at idle when cold?

The car picks up and goes OK, but on tick-over its really lumpy until the engine is warm.

If it were a petrol car, I'd say it had a duff plug or lead - its that sort of miss - the whole care shudders with the engine.

Noticed the air filter isn't wonderfully clean, but it was replaced about 5000 miles ago.

Will send to dealer for diag next week, but was wondering if anyone has had a similar prob.

I had this once, very cold day - and (from engine cold) I had driven no more than a mile and got stuck in a traffic jam - the car was rough for about 10 minutes, enough to notice a slight sideways shake.
It only happened once and that was about six months ago, it sounded like some electronic management system being fooled. It sounds like yours is more frequent?

Yes its doing on just about every cold start. Even on warm days!

Expect a sensor is down (maybe MAF / coolant temp / induction air temp ?_

Will book in to dealer for a look and let you know what he finds.

Yes- I think its been fixed.

The dealer flashed the engine ecu "under warranty" and it seems better now.

According to the tech the updated files weren't specifically for this problem, but he'd seem it fix the problem on other 3.0 TDI's.

    Hope this helps
