Hi all,ive ordered 2 rear hub/bearing off e-bay and in a few days (mon/tue) they should arrive.

A3 TDI SPORTBACK 30MM REAR HUBS.

I want to know the rear hub torque settings?
well to be honest i rang an audi dealership and they have told me its 200 Nm then once thats done tighten it a further 180 degrees.

Is this about right? it sound quite tight,il be using a normal Torque Wrench, and new bolts as ive been told they must be renewed.

To be honest i thort i may snap the bolt tightening it that much ,thort id just double check with you guys???

Il have to tighten up with a bar i think just to put some pressure on it.
any other advice you can give me would be apreciated very much.

Try to get more info. If tapered bearings are fitted and you tighten too much they could lock up and possibly cause accident.
    Regards,
    Michael.

You need a very strong ¾” drive M18 XZN key, my first one snapped as I was tightening the hub up and it left me in a crumpled head on the floor. The tightening torque is extremely high, 180 Nm + ½ turn (180°) for cars with a steel carrier.

just to let you all know..the old bearing came off in my hand without a puller, both of them, one of the bearings fell out the hub aswell.

The new hubs were both replaced they slid on the shaft then the bolt was torqued to spec......nice and quiet now.

had to use the old dust covers on the hubs some how never got any new ones with mine ( the metal plate/cover that covers the bolt......shold be ok anyway) i had some high temp grease( in the garage) ....should i have filled the hub with that aswell?
