Left home this afternoon and didn't manage 100yds before the car spluttered. Got to the end of the estate and it just stopped dead in the junction with "workshop - low oil pressure" warning on the dashboard. Managed to get the car into N and rolled it back out of harms way before ringing my local VW. Diagnosed it as most likely injectors but obviously needed it there (23miles away) to make sure. I was pleasantly surprised to be told if I got it to them and it was the injectors that they would do them all FOC.

Anyway long story short after organising to get the car to VW they rang me back to say that yeah it is the injectors and that they had them ordered to come in tomorrow. Hopefully they can turn the car around quickly and have it for me tomorrow. Gave me an excuse to change the other glow plugs that hadn't been changed lately but I dread to think of what might have happened had I been overtaking another car and it just cut on me.

Marty, I'm sorry to have to tell you this but I think you have oil pump failure there rather than inj trouble, 55-07 plate car?

Ignore this I just saw your last part of the post, I can't understand why low oil pressure came up though, normally it's garage fault that comes up, glad you've escaped though, check the engine number anyway, could be crucial in future.

Get your logbook out and look at the engine number if it ends in less than 50000 it's probably the bad batch of pumps, your next move should be to get VW to assist in paying for repairs, they know this is an issue, they won't pay it all but if you can get the bill lowered to a sensible level it will help, normally if it's just the pump and turbo gone it's around £1500, or if it's done the whole lump it's up to £4k, reading what you said I suspect you haven't done the lump in and hopefully if you caught it in time the turbo will be ok still as well.

Sorry, just prepping you for the bad news when it comes.

My experience was the same as billythetidd - the garage had been given the go ahead by VW CS, and they didn't need anything from me. I offered the case number, but they said they had it already.

I just got my mates 06 plate 140 passat booked in for the injector replacement, he should be getting it back today, no questions asked, he had paid for one of the injectors to be done in July 2011, but has lost the invoice, VW Cust said if he can find the invoice and send it to them they will refund the cost.. He's happy now, even sent me a couple of free Pizzas last night (which i enjoyed very much..lol) for helping him out...

Got my car back on Tuesday afternoon just over 24hrs after it stopped on me. All four injectors and loom changed. Took the opportunity to change the last two glow plugs that hadn't already been done this year all for the princely sum of £36 ontop of the £36 recovery excess I paid.

Perhaps the low oil presure warning came up when the engine cut itself out?

The car is an ex-VW lease car and has had all recalls done before I purchased it. I got the service manager to check for me before I parted with cash

By the way the engine no is BKP090115

Did you supply the glow plugs? I might ask them to do mine.

Can I ask how long it was between VW CS approving your refund & you actually receiving your cheque?

I am being told "up to 35 days" which is cack but better than nothing!

Has anyone had the VW dealer give them grief about service history?

My last service in the book was 57,xxx and now shows 76,xxx. I was made to feel like a reprobate because I hadn't had it serviced with VW since then.
Also got told by the dealer that VOSA doesn't matter, and that head office was god in this matter. All in all bit of a crappy experience.

Hi. I'm gonna add to all this. Long story short, car lacking on power and hesitant, phone VW CS got case ref number, booked in at VW chesterfield for check and replacement if needed and got courtesy car. Was told even if the car doesn't qualify for replacement injectors (which she probably will BMR engine 2007) I won't be charged for inspection due to case number being raised by VW. I did query about service history due to me only owning the car since June and was told that VW now doesn't take service history into consideration when claiming for duff injectors (they used to).

Will update when the time comes and hopefully got new squirters fitted!!

Just got it back. It was all after VW authorised a nice big bill.

No drastic difference like some are claiming, just runs as it did before.
