Can I ask a couple questions.

A lot of people on here have stated that with the new injectors they have seen an increase in fuel economy of up to 10% but this appears to be from trip computer readings.
Two or three people have stated that they have also seen this but it has not been backed up by real brim to brim calculations.
I am now on my 4th tank of diesel since my new injectors were fitted. In the past my trip computer has been pretty spot on and agreed with brim to brim calculations. Since my new injectors the trip computer has shown about 10% increased economy, but the real calculations show it has not increased one little bit.

First question, are there other people who have claimed increased economy who now realise they haven't got it. Secondly, why are the trip computers now over reading by 10%?.

Rather confusingly when I filled up yesterday, the fuel guage was showing I had just over half a tank left. I think the tank holds 70 litres, so it should have filled up by 30 to 35 litres but it actually took 41.
I have driven this car from new ( 4 years ) so know its trip computer/fuel guage characteristics very well. But this is weird and only since the new injectors.

I have had no noticeable difference in either the display reading or the real MPG.

I know that VCDS can re-callibrate the display reading by +/- 10% so perhaps the garage have done this to make you "feel better"?

    Me being cynical that's all!

I have had a few fill ups since the replacement and I can definitely see a slight increase in mpg, just because I know the amount I put in usually just does my usual round trip but recently I have had a bit left in the tank. All the usual conditions. I'll need to get a good few brim to brims and actually test it out for good. I usually don't drop below 50mpg on a round trip but recently I have noticed that I have been getting around 57mpg.

Hi all, a quick update, as I mentioned in a previous post, the passat went in to the vw dealers this morning to check up if I had the faulty injectors.. Dropped it off at 9am, and got a call at 3pm car is ready to pick up.
So I went down (only 5 mins journey in car). The lady at service desk said the cars all ready and that they have fitted 4 new injectors and new wiring loom for free courtesy of VW.. I was surprised.. As they didn't ring me to say it's got the old batch of injectors init. They just replaced them.. So very happy car drives smooth n silky haha
    Thanks for your help everyone..

i also have just had all my injectors and loom replaced, all free of charge thanks to customer services.
would just like to say that the dealership in brombough (wirral) was a nighmare from start to finish.
firstly they said i would need to pay for a diagnostics scan and if no fault was found they would not replace anything even though i had a case number from customers services, after getting them to speak to jenny at customer services the dealer called me to say they are going to replace all injectors and loom.
so the car went in at 8.30 on thursday morning and was told car would be ready after 4 that day. i get a call at 3.30 to say that car is not ready and will be ready friday morning. by friday lunch i still had not heard from them. i tried calling the dealer and got no anwser several times, when i finnaly got thruogh there was no one available at the service desk so i left my number with the main recepionist who said they would call me back.
you guessed it, they didn't call back. it was 4.30 by now and i had no car and a loverly warm weekend was looming. was'nt happy, so i called jenny at cs and she said leave it with her. about 30 mins later the dealer called me with lots of apologies and then told me car still not ready and it would be ready on monday and that cs had autherised a courtesy car (base polo) better than nothing though. i get a call today (monday) about 4 pm and told car is ready.
i went straight there and collected car, as i pulled away i thought something wasn't right and as i put my foot down i get the message engine fault and the glow plug light flashing, i take car back and the workshop manger takes a look under bonnet and finds that one of the vacum pipes had not been connected, connects it and the car runs fine. i wouldn't expect this kind farse from a back street garage let alone a main dealer.
so if anyone living on the wirral is planning on getting this work done then i would seriously think twice before booking it into the brombough dealer.
well i feel better for getting that off my chest.
    sorry for the moan
and a big thanks to all those who have commented on this thread and the guy who started it as we would all be none of the wiser if it was'nt for him, and i wouldn't have got a couple of grands worth of work done for free. thanks again

That shows they had not even road tested it.

You can add me to the list.......

Left home this afternoon and didn't manage 100yds before the car spluttered. Got to the end of the estate and it just stopped dead in the junction with "workshop - low oil pressure" warning on the dashboard. Managed to get the car into N and rolled it back out of harms way before ringing my local VW. Diagnosed it as most likely injectors but obviously needed it there (23miles away) to make sure. I was pleasantly surprised to be told if I got it to them and it was the injectors that they would do them all FOC.

Anyway long story short after organising to get the car to VW they rang me back to say that yeah it is the injectors and that they had them ordered to come in tomorrow. Hopefully they can turn the car around quickly and have it for me tomorrow. Gave me an excuse to change the other glow plugs that hadn't been changed lately but I dread to think of what might have happened had I been overtaking another car and it just cut on me.

i know, i had little faith in main dealers before this happened, i have none now.
wouldn't trust them to change a wiper blade without cocking it up

    Ok, finally got round to booking my car in, spoke to VW Customer Services all of 3 minutes and I now have a case number. My question now is, to save having nightmares and headaches;

Is there anything I can take in with me to back up my case, rather than just the case number on a yellow sticky note? Are there any VOSA print outs etc I can take in?

    Cheers guys!!

You shouldn't really need anything really, just the ref number and that's about it. VW CS should have contacted the garage that you told them and they should have had all the relevant info and docs sent to them.
