    Imizz,

I rang VW Customer Service on the 5th September, explained that even though I had not had any problems I was concerned about the safety factor with the possibility of the engine cutting out at high speed.

The CS rep took my details and issued me with a Case Number asking me to book the car in at my local VW garage, the appointment was made for Friday 9th.

I turned up at the garage armed with my Case Number and loads of print outs from this Forum including the VOSA replies and asked to see the Sevice Manager.

He listened to my case about vehicle safety and said they must check to see if the injectors are from the faulty batch, since I have owned the car from new I dont' no why.

After an hour he came back to inform me that they were the injectors that are suspect and to book the car in with reception for the following week while he ordered up the parts, I asked did I have to contact VW CS again, his answeer was no, I already had a Case Number, thats all he needed and he would contact them direct.

So the injectors were replace on 14th September, VW CS rang me on the Friday to confirm the job had been completed to my satisfaction and was I happy with VW.

Silly question! I was over the moon!!!!!

Sorry for going on so long but the way forward is to contact VW CS first and get a case number, then go armed with print outs of other peoples experiences + VOSA comments to the garage.

    I hope this helps.

    Mal.

    Ok that's mine done.

Car feels sprightlier but that could be a placebo

Had my DSG done at the same time, this feels much smoother now and I know that isn't a placebo, misfire is gone, and todays weather is perfect for the condition to manifest itself.

Will add/update after I get to have a good session in it, but all looks good right now.

Bloody misfire is back with a vengeance yesterday & today - obviously can't be injector related now, so its either got to be software or possibly my fuel pump on its way out (been a bit noisy lately)?

I came on here looking for a good diagnostic mechanic as I have this very issue. Car runs a bit lumpy but ok, but starts like a pig. Loss of power and the occasional cut out with the glow plug light coming on. 2006 56 plate 2.0 with 98,000 on the clock.

So is there a definitive procedure for getting this fixed out of VWs pocket, as I got quoted just under £2000 for all four injectors.
Also being in Essex, does anyone know the best dealer to contact, as the most local to me (Loughton) I know from experience are useless.

    Many thanks.

got my car back yesterday, after a failure at 60mph on a motorway with my 2 year old in the car!! all done , no problems, no arguements, VW CS didnt need to get involved. My usually crap local dealer actually bent over backwards to be helpful! got them to check for any outstanding recalls inc. balancer shaft and oil pump. nothing outstanding so we have had faith restored in the car.

Good luck everyone, hope you get them fixed before they break!

Just like to add a few bits now that I have travelled a good few miles on the new injectors. As well as the added 10-15% increase in fuel economy I have noticed that the engine doesn't rev as much (2000rpm is exactly 70mph) that never was before, also the low fuel warning light now comes on at 75miles to go rather than the 60 miles it did before.

Sorry but that simply is not possible without altering the gear ratios.

Crash, I have some info on the new units for you.

VW CS told me it's a new model injector so I assume from that that none are re-con unit's, just thought you might like to know as it was me who kicked off the possibility that VW would re-con old ones to meet demand, I just gotta see the commotion when the recall is issued eventually and there simply aren't enough to go round, that's a 3.5 year production span to bridge, and it has to happen cos there is no way VOSA are going to allow potential avoidable accidents to happen.
