No such engine as an AVZ so it must be an AZV and that was only fitted to the Golf 5, Jetta 5 and Touran so which car do you have?

05 Sport BKP 81,876 miles Injector failed.
Got all 4 replaced and loom. Service impeccable and seeing mpg figures I've never seen before so a happy chappy.
Convinced I wouldn't have had been aware of this possibility without this forum so a huge thank you guys!

mine went in there today with a failed injector, they said they have 3 passats with dead injectors!! my other half broke down on the M23 / A23 handcross hill on wednesday afternoon, stopped dead in the slow lane (2 lane section southbound) with our 2 year old in the car, police had to close the road to recover the car. Mega dangerous!! I have got to wait til monday for them to look at it, no questions from VW customer services or Crawley VW, they just said bring it in, we will check it then replace all injectors F.O.C. fingers crossed.

Picked car up today, car running like a dream. I was even told by the service manager to contact VW customer care and claim back the money I spent changing 2 injectors earlier in the year. He said I will get it back no problem. He also said they were doing cars that had zero service history on an FOC basis !!

Well sort of, they wanted £1600 for it but i had an inspection done by AA before i bought the car, they picked up on this so i bought the car (from CarGiant) with the agreement that if VW find a fault CarGiant will fix it for free. Since did find the fault CarGiant are picking up the cost so handing the car in on Wednesday.

Hi just got my '55 passat 2.0tdi (with new injectors recently fitted) back after having a major breakdown leading to 3 new valves/followers fitted + new cambelt kit etc. Engine is missing under acceleration/running lumpy and kicking loads of unburned diesel smoke out.be most grateful if anyone can run me through the procedure on how to set up injectors correctly please?

Okay, for anybody that has missed my separate thread.

Car had new injectors/wiring loom on Tuesday of this week. The car hadn't suffered any previous problems. Yesterday morning the yellow engine warning light came on, car was running okay. Took it straight into Dealers. They have discovered that the wiring loom fitted was beginning to fail after a handful of miles.
Have now got a second new wiring loom and seems okay.
Somebody mentioned a few weeks back that they thought the injectors and wiring looms were being recycled after examination and reconditioning.
What do you guys think, was I just unlucky or are they really doing that?

The VOSA agreement is for new parts.
I can't see them taking such risks with a government body overseeing and taking a close interest in the whole repair operation which is currently underway..

The injectors being supplied have an X at the end of the part number which means they are exchange and INFERS that they are reconditioned units but from looking at them they appear to be new although it is hard to tell.

The set up procedure is to set the injector rocker arm at maximum lift preferably using a dial gauge but after doing this numerous times I can do it without now

Then the adjuster nut is released and you use a 6-mm hex (Allen) key to wind the adjuster down until it hits a firm stop, then you back the adjuster off 180 degrees (I use an angle gauge so as to be extremely precise)

and then tighten up the adjuster. Repeat this step for all the injectors.

This is on an 8v but is the same procedure
