Although my car felt more responsive following replacement of injectors, the trip computer was also telling me that I was getting +7MPG more than before.
This has now been exposed as an inaccuracy of the trip computer. It was originally underestimating consumption by 5MPG. It is now overestimating by 2MPG. Fuel consumption is exactly the same. VW have obviously 'tweaked' it.

bombanela - VW France are saying there's no recall here.

Have a read through this thread https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...256#post670256 - there's a recall number in one post.

In the early days when I always filled to brim and calculated my mpg every thousand miles or so the computer was always optimistic by about 2 mpg.

Others who did the same usually said theirs was optimistic by around 1-2 mpg, with larger variations being untypical.

Thus perhaps your computer is just now just reading 'normally', but whether or not the change has anything to do with the injector replacement is maybe another issue

As I calculate MPG every time I fill up, I know that the sudden perceived improvement coincides with the visit to VW dealer. Also, the computer now tells me that I have a range of around 700 miles, whereas it was usually around 560 before, and the 'refuel' warning comes with 60 miles remaining rather than 50.

    Another satisfied customer.

Took my 2006 Sport 170 (33k miles/no injector failures to date) in to Peter Cooper in Southampton yesterday, and had 4 injectors and loom replaced. All very straightforward, and I was loaned a brand new Golf while the work was done. I noticed on the work sheet it was described as a "pro-active repair", and the paperwork I was given when I collected the car described it as FOC Warranty work.

My thanks to those on this forum who progessed the problem with VOSA and alerted us of the issue in the first place. Thanks also to VW Customer Care for the professional way they are now handling the matter.

I don't think yours is the same, iirc you have a BXE engine or similar.
