Not even an hour after my email to my local VW garage, before I had the chance to contact VW Customer Support, I got a call from the local dealer in Barnsley. The car has been booked for an inspection for Tuesday morning. I asked about the replacement car as I need to commute to work and they said "not a problem".

I will let you know how I get on but so far I am amazed with the level of service.

Not sure if I still should contact VW CS to get the reference number, what do you think?

I have a '55 plate passat 2.0tdi.I just had all 4 injectors replaced yesterday by VW at VAG expense.set off to work this morning, got 15 miles down road and car just died.after being stuck for 5 hours in the rain,in danger, at the side of the motorway my mechanic who is VERY trustworthy tells me it has thrown the cambelt off the bottom pulley for some reason.A bit too much of a coincidence if you ask me.VW don't want to know, however so confident are they that its nothing to do with them, they are willing to diagnose (with my mechanic observing) tomorrow.God help me...

I wrote to VW France to ask them if they'll do the same for me (quoting VOSA's action) and they more or less told me to -off. They say they've contacted 'head office', so I'll now be writing to VW in Germany.

Does anyone know if VW America is changing injectors?

I bought my 2006(56) Passat TDi Sport (42000 miles) last Friday after seeking advice on my other thread. After reading this thread and before picking the car up I contacted VW customer support and asked them about any potential issue with the injectors. Obviously, they did not commit themselves and told me to ring back Friday afternoon after I actually had the car.

Friday at about 2pm I rang and explained again that I had just bought the car and as I used it as a tow car with my family on board, I was concerned about any safety issues that an injector failure may cause (quoting this forum experiences and others). I was told that a lady called Lorraine (that name again) would be my case handler and that she would contact me on Monday for further information. Monday at 10am she phoned me at work, and was immediately helpful and attentive to my problem. She asked for the details of my nearest VW dealer and said that she would contact them immediately and get them to phone to arrange to take the car in to check that I had 'the particular injectors'.

An hour later, the car was booked in for a check with the fix to be completed if necessary straight away. The car was dropped off today and the injectors were charged under warranty. I am waiting for a copy of the paperwork to be sent with full details of the work.

I have always had Vauxhalls in the past, and this is my first VW - I can only say that my first experience of VW customer services has been a good one. Here's hoping the future of the car is as rosy!

The forum has been a great help - well done all!!

You'll probably get another call back from VW just to make sure that everything is peachy.
I know I did this morning.
Whilst I was in the dealer, they also gave me a full service history print out, and it's full.
    Job done !!
    loving the Passat :-)

Good luck, I bought from them before T H-den Y?

Never again, if that's what a VW dealer is about then pass me the Ford brochure please, I don't think they even serviced it tbh, it ran low on oil over 250 miles on the way home, original pollen filter, poorly repaired body damage even though I asked if it had ever been hit before I traveled up, fag burn in the carpet, in all honesty the car I PX'd was in better condition but they kinda had me as I'd stripped my car and was all geared up for the changover, so just hope the mechanic's have a bit more ethic about them than the sales guys, that was the second time a Northern dealer has lied to me over the phone, so in future if the dealer is the other side of Reading it won't be getting any of my money in future.

And don't get too impressed with VW, be impressed with 100's of owners and VOSA, VW has nothing to do with it, they would leave you to rot if they could.

Be very interested in the outcome of this, iirc you don't touch the cambelt to remove the inj's, however you do have to release the rockers on the cams, if someone has rotated the cams when the rockers are off this could cause the timing to jump out I suppose, with modern belts they are a lot better than the old ones so unless you were overdue by a significant mileage there shouldn't be belt failure, however from what you say it's stripped off it's sprocket locators i.e ribs that sit in the sprocket and this is how it's managed to come off, when it died were you at speed and did you hear any metallic banging, brace yourself because if it has come off it's likely to have wrecked the engine as well, please do let us know how you get on.
