Its lucky that VW don't read this. Otherwise they may blame it on Cheeky the cat for sharpening his claws on the tyres

Has anyone so far managed to get their "old design" injectors replaced FOC as a precaution? I mean before any have actually failed?

I've had no failures (yet) after 32k miles, but I now feel nervous whenever I take the car on a motorway. I'm also off on holiday to France soon and the prospect of a failure on a French autoroute in the middle of nowhere is seriously worrying.

I'm going to get mine replaced, I'll let you know how I get on. I'm also going to France and it worries me! Is there anyway of checking you have the bad siemens injectors and not the Bosch??

I may have got it wrong, but my understanding is that ALL the 2.0 PDs had the dodgy Siemens piezoelectric injectors as factory fit.

The suggestion from recent posts is the replacements now being fitted are to an improved design.

Maybe one of the site gurus can confirm this?

Well, I'm glad mine failed this week, as I too am going to France next weekend and it certainly could have been tricky negotiating a FOC replacement over there.

    Hi Mike,

Hardly a guru . But here is what I know.

When I spoke to VW customer service, they said the injectors are a new improved design. They also mentioned a new improved loom. These parts have only been availabe since last year.

So the bottom line is unless you have had injectors/loom replaced last year. you have the older design.

I would suggest filling out you Vosa form. You will also get a full refund for the injector you have replaced. Stress you do not feel safe in the car and worry that it will cut out again at high speed with your wife and kids present like last time.
