Yep, nice one jtw, but not as pleased as I'll be if I can get something similar out of VW France.

If it has a BKP engine it is THE most likely one to fail!

Some good news, VW customer service have opened my case, and forward it to VW Bristol to check and replace. My only concern is, that I recently remapped my car. Its out of warranty, so would VW reset the ECU?? The car has been booked on the 1st Nov. Hopefully all will go to plan.

Engine code is BKP, injector fault cylinder 3.

All depends on the part number on your injectors if there not as I listed then according to vw they're are not affected and don't need replacing,it's a simple job to remove the camshaft cover and check the part numbers just to settle your own mind

One of the staff from VW customer service did say, it all depends on the part number. Where abouts is the camshaft cover located? And which part number is it?

I wonder if you could contact VW UK asking for advice?

Interesting thought, but experience suggests that they would advise me to contact VW France:

I wrote to the VW CEO in Germany (Martin Winterkorn), and the CEO in France, asking why they aren't doing the same in France as VW UK. Needless to say, they both passed me on to a 'Customer service' person here, who told me they don't replace parts that aren't faulty. I got the impression from the reply to my last letter that if it happens they might replace foc, but that's no consolation when you're in the outside lane of an autoroute.

I mentioned the possibility of injector faults to the Service Manager of our dealers a couple of years ago. His reply was that you shouldn't believe everything you read on forums!

French forums suggest that there's obviously as much indignation here as in the UK, but UK consumers have a much stronger voice than in France.

VW are hypocrites - in Belgium they say they've never heard of this fault!

Nevertheless, my thanks under your recent post were genuine because it's really pushed this farce forward, and the relevant bits are being quoted on French forums.

ive spoken with customer services today to arrange my booking for the injector replacement and quoted the bulletin number i obtained from a vw friend and the kind lady on the phone was extremly shocked i had the bulletin and asked where i had got it from ,to which i replied i didnt wish to disclose this and that i had already checked the part numbers on the injectors and confirmed they were the faulty ones, she then asked when i would like to book the vehicle in and said that she would arrange for the replacement off all four injectors and the wiring F.O.C at my local dealer, what a result
looks like knowledge is power when it comes to vw
