The forced regen procedure does not involve significant revs if done using a diagnostic computer, the revs are kept around 3K although seeing an exhaust temp of over 800 degrees can make you feel uncomfortable.

A question about this DPF cleaner. Does it dissolve and remove all or some of the ash content of the DPF so that the ash mass value can be reset to zero or at least a lower figure? I did a forced reg on an A4 the other day but the ash mass was at 57g and the maximum allowable is 60g. The DPF came clean according to the figures but the ash mass does not change so the DPF still had to be replaced.

    They change injectors
I've just called them with this in mind and didn't even have to mention VOSA. Simply said it was affecting cars from a 56plate to 08/09 and that i should book the car in for a diagnostic to see if my car has this part, if so it will be replaced for free. Gave me a reference number as well.

Thing is though, i already sent the car to VW to do a diagnostic about my DSG gearbox, another known fault that should have been a recall issue. Anyway do you think that VW would have picked it up if i had this part in my car? Or would they have simply done the diagnostic on the gearbox since the person that did the test drive with me also confirmed it was a mechrotronics (sp?) unit in the gearbox that needed replacing?

Don't want to fork out another £100 for another issue now, im hoping the one they did only 3 weeks ago was a full diagnostic and it would have come up..

I had my mechatronic unit replaced a couple of months ago. Cost me £190, VW covered the rest.

Dealer is getting it in writing from VW that they are paying to replace the injectors before they book me in. They are saying that its 2 hours labour just to check i even have the defective part, if they find i dont have them i will have to cover the cost of the labour. Seems insane that they dont know, why dont they have a build log with part numbers for each vehicle?

I only got my car back on Friday from the mechatronic unit being replaced. I don't want to be paying for another diagnostic though, especially when there might not even be an issue. Hopefully if i go back to the same place they will sort something out for me. No way im paying for another one again when i was under the impression that the previous one was a full diagnostic.

I wish that was the equivalent price in South Africa, here they GBP 900 for one at the dealer and if you shout a bit you will get them for GBP600. Maybe worthwhile importing them from the UK.
