After owning VW's for more than 30 years and having no problems at all with any of them I was quite shocked to read about this problem.

I travel on the A1/M1/M62 between Teesside and Manchester quite regularly with my young nephews in the car, after reading some of the horror stories in this thread I am very concerned about the safety aspect of the injector fault.

I have called VW Customer care and expressed my concerns, I have been given a Case Number and informed a Case coordinator will contact me within 72hours, I have also booked the car into the local VW dealer for a FOC inspection on Friday 9th.

We will have to wait to see what they say..

if its a 2008 cr engine it wont have the faulty injectors. unless its a 2007 car with pd engine which was registered in 2008.

A car will invariably go better with new injectors - it doesn't necessarily mean the new ones are better, just really clean.

My car has 119K on it.
A new set of injectors won't do it any harm whatsoever.
It's more like a freshen up for mine if I'm honest.
Diesel injectors have always worked to mega fine tolerances anyway, so lovely fresh new ones have to be a good thing.

result...after a new injector, turbo and loom in june..cost £2200, i discovered the agreement with VOSA i.e injectors got a called today from VW as a gesture of goodwill we will replace the remaining 3..VW returning the cost of the injector change also so with the loom about £1000...!!!

good considering that when i try to start the car i sometimes get Engine fault and flashing coil light but also steering column light flashes as well..is this a side effect of another fault injector or a seperate issue...?

btw i was complaining about the original faults..i.e a injector should not fail no mention from VW about the agreement.. i had to phone VW to bring to their attention all of a sudden yes sir 3 "new" injectors to be fitted..

note folks the parts they fit will not be new.. as in their words re-conditioned guaranteed for 2 years

I'm wondering, well actually I'm sort of confirming a theory of mine, if the injector blocks up and can't squirt properly the ecu will read this and shut it down ? so is it not conceivable that all that is really happening is the unit needs cleaning rather than replacing, I'm very interested to see what others think as there have been users on here who've done 150k without issue, but they also were the driver who spent the day in the fast lane rather than the jams, as I've recently had a smoker that wasn't idling too steady that then gave me a coil light halfway to Cornwall last week that I've now done another 400 miles in cleaning mode/ITU that is now clean out the back and rock steady on idle, it would suggest muck rather than mechanicals are causing the shut off.

    Opinions?

    Thanks for all the info.
Had my call back within 48 hours, asked which was my usual VW dealer for service, and then said that they would get in touch with me.

Within minutes, the garage called, asked if I wouldn't mind waiting for the Service Manager to return (which I didn't), and the car is booked in for replacement next Wednesday.

Deeply chuffed, especially as I have some long journeys coming up.

    Kudos to VW.

    Regards,
