Hello, this is my first post, I have just got a B5 1.8T and need to read the skc code from the ecu to program a spare key. I have a vag com lead and shareware software which works good but will not read this. I have tried vag dash tool by gopel, but it wont read my ecu with vag com lead and it seems like it doesnt work on a4's anyway. Anybody know of any software which will read this? - it has to be Vista compatible. Thanks.

I dont think you can.As key enable is online now the server in germany enables the key.If you have the original 7 digit number on the key tag from new you may still be able to enable the key .The PIN number must be established on the basis of the 14-position identification number of the immobilizer/engine control unit by way of direct system interrogation (as for direct interrogation of radio code). It is also possible to find out the PIN number from the appropriate Regional Sales Centre or importer. What you use to do was send an enquiry to audi with the vin number and immobiliser id and you would then recive a 7 digit number that was valid for 24 hours and enable via adaption channel 21.Now you require a geko code for authority to send the info online and the server will know who the operator is and the dealer number so i dont think you will be able to do it.

Fear not... (me hopes). I also want to code a spare key and I have Vista. I approached my VW ******* and they said they were unale to provide me with this SKC unless I got the key coded by paying them to do it.

I believe you need a lead/software called VagTacho or VAGCommander (depending on your car. I think pre-2004=Tacho and post-2004=Commander).
Forum member eshrules sells these (http://www.eshrules-enterprises.co.uk/productpage.html)

I believe the software dosn't work on Vista so you might want to do what I have done... create a partition and install an earlier version of Windows. The sotware should run on that.

If your car is pre-99 you can just clone the immob capsule in your current key.

A good auto-locksmith will be able to clone your transponder capsule (£10), as it is a 'static' type, and always emits the same code.

In this way you can have as many keys as you like and the car will see them all as the same key.
