had a diagnostic. i havent got it here but vag com stated over boost im sure the number was 17695. the garage said that it sounded like the vanes were sticking so i really dont know what to do. what could cause an over boost.
it will cost me 250 to let them get the turbo off and put it back if i need a new one, i have to do this anyway as you cant see the garret number on it if i have to order a turbo.
i must admit it is a strange noise it makes under load. im stuck as i cant sell the car in the state its in as who ever comes to buy will hear the noise and wont want it.

ill have to double check that number thoas that is off the top of my head but it stated over boost and said it was intermittent.
the garage that did the test said they thought they would have to look at the turbo as they thought the turbo was the likely cause and that the vanes might be sticking due to crabon build up. does that sound likely. id really appreciate some advice as its really beginning to get me down and im struggling with money as it is. i really dont want to commit to something if it isnt necessary

i took it to vw garage near mine and they put it on the diagnostic and said nothing showed up. surely even if my car had had the turbo cut out just once it should have been recorded on the ecu history. they said there was nothing.
i noticed them maf sensors are notorious so i think ill chance it and see if my car benefits is there anything else i can do. what benefit does disconnecting the battery for 20 mins have.
id really appreciate it if some one could offer me som help or suggestions.
could be ECU or fuel starvation

has any one got any experience of this my turbo doesnt sound right and a sticking van sounds likely, but would that be because of an over boost. thanks for the reply.

Ive got the exact same problem with my car.

Girlfriends brother is mechanic down at local VW dealer so he took it in and whipped it onto the diagnostics machine ( not sure which one but it was the main VW dealer in Carlisle (not some backstreet Harry)) and it came up with overboost aswell.

He told me he could take the turbo to bits and lubricate the vanes as a temporary measure but apart from that it had to be a new turbo!!

I'll be interested to hear what the problem actually is when you find out!

    Readiness: 0 0 X X X

hope that makes any sense. id really appreciate some experience of this fault if possible.
