Won't start,,,

A4 quattro, 1.9tdi 110bhp. 130k miles.
I've just changed the fuel filter, fitted OEM Audi replacement.
Took old one off, primed new one with fuel, connected it up,,, started car and it ran briefly, switched off, got cleaned up then tried to start it again but it will not have it.
Just turns over but no life.
Please, does anyone have any suggestions of what I may have done wrong, or may not have done.

It'll be air in the system. Even priming the new filter doesn't guarantee there won't be an air bubble.
Try cracking off the high pressure pipes at the injectors one at a time while you crank the engine till there is clean fuel flow.
Alternatively tow the car in 2nd gear with another vehicle until it fires.

Cycle the ignition `ON` and `OFF`, leaving a moment before turning it off to let the pump in the tank purge the air out the system. Do this a number of times. Then crank engine. It should go after this.
