There is a golf that drives past my house everyweek-day probably going home from work! It has a rear box on it that sounds superb! Funny things is its not a four cylinder noise (or a r32 or vr6!). Now I can SPOT! (much to my wifes annoyance) an air-cooled Porsche flat-six (boxster) motor from miles away. But the car sounds between the Porsche and a V8!!?!!

There are exhausts on the market that can re-verberate a normal four cylinder pulse and give it a double tap sound (which I suspect the Golfs exhaust is!)

There are also exhausts out there that you can actuate a flap to make them loud or when not required quiet!

Loud all the time can be tiresome!! Especially if you hit a reasonant frequency at motorway cruising speeds!

To remove the inards of your stock box might see you having probs when the new MOT rules come in (might not though! but better finding out first)
