    Hi,

I firstly wanted to say thank you to everyone that participates in this very helpful site - I bought an '06 plate Audi A4 2.0TDI (140) SE at the weekend and the information on this site really helped in picking one.

Now that I have had time to have a proper look around the car there are a couple of things I would like to know more about:-

Luggage Hooks/Anchor points on the boot floor - my car seems to have template 'dips' in the boot fabric trim but no actual hooks. Surely this can't have been an optional extra? Has anyone ever retro-fitted these (price and how-to/part no?)

RHS boot storage - my car has a flat tray but I have seen pictures of other cars that have a cargo net running flush with the trim running from back to front of the boot. Can this be retro fitted?

Curry hooks - I have seen a couple of posts about this in another post, does anyone have a price and part no

Lower front bumper, passenger (nearside) fog light - there appears to be some black trim missing which is there on the drivers side. Has this fallen off at some point or is it meant for an air intake for the engine?

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

    Welcome Steve.

The plastic trim is meant to be missing... It indeed is for air intake.

Well I am glad it wasn't just me then!

I did phone up the dealer when I got home to complain and he said the same thing - I just wanted to check with you on here before I let it go.

Any ideas on the other questions, in particular I can't believe that luggage hooks in the boot are an 'upgrade'?

I couldnt beleive the anchor points are extra's , vw & even skoda fit them as standard (with exactly the same parts). Audi seem very stingy when it comes to supplying 'standard equipment' like this and eg a boot 12v socket too.

So i retrofitted the anchors myself, you just need to carefully cut out a small section of the boot liner where you found the mounting points then the archors simply screw into place. it took longer for them to find the parts than it did to fit them .

The anchor points are called 'tie downs' part no 1J0864203C6PS £8.58+vat each (chrome hook with a black surround, theres an all chrome one too for a bit more)

Crazily Audi couldnt supply the correct bolts for them! they ordered them three times for me and each time the wrong wrong ones turned up (but with the correct part no) eventually they sheepishly recommended i try a VW dealer for them! .. which i did...

VW bolt part no N10120901 14p each - two per tie-down so you need 8.

    Thanks M1kes,

I must admit I was going through my mind of what they might be called and never though of 'tie downs' - I presume the part no. you mention is the same as this cosmetically?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Breaking-Audi-...item2a01907243

I presume that the boot carpet trim will just lift up to ensure that the mounting holes etc are there? Do you have a picture you can send me of what the boot floor should look like with the 'tie downs' in place?

Potentially this mod can be done for £40.36 with the VAT - were you not tempted to go VW all the way for both the 'tie downs' and the bolts?

My Passat had both of these as standard sadly my A4 has neither!

-- yes that is the part on ebay , lol but hes charging more than the new price for a used item + delivery

If you carefully pull/lift up the boot trim sides a little way and look with a torch you'll see the mounting point screw holes in the metal underneath , without needing to take the whole carpet out (there are some metal clips higher up on the side walls of the carpet that are quite hard to reconnect if you do remove it completely - but theres no need to do that for this). A couple of the screw holes already had some plastic pins in them that help securing the carpet in place (just two if i recall?) these just pull out.

I made a simple cardboard template of the tie-down outline and holes to match it up the to carpet after making some approximate measurements to the mounting points in order to make the cuts.

once in they look factory fitted, my only dilema was remembering whether the spring of the clips faced in or out - they all face into the centre of the boot.

nb My A4 is the older B7 variant , so the positioning may be different on the current model, but the parts are exactly the same.
    - i only fitted them late last yr (09)

PS yes it probably would have been easier to get all the bits from VW in retrospect, (prob cheaper too!) but i didnt realise Audi would be unable to get the bolts for me. until theyd already got the tie-downs.
I also looked for the curry hooks (shopping/grocery bag hooks) you mentioned, but Audi do not stock or supply these - VW & skoda will though... I think the vw part number for them is 6y5 867 615 b41 after i did alot of searching, but i never got round to buying them so cant be 100%.

Well I have just come off the phone to my local Listers VW parts department:-

    Anchor/tie down points - £10.56 ea (x4 req)
    Securing bolts - £0.25 ea (x8 req)

Total - £44.24 (but I should get 10% discount on this through this forum)

    Curry/shopping hooks - £5.14 ea (x2 req)
    Screw fixings - £0.14 ea (2 x2 req)
    Nut fixings - £0.24 ea (2 x2 req)

Total - £11.80 (again before the 10% discount)

Cargo net - £42 for VW version or £54 for Audi (I have purchased new for under £20 delivered, from ebay)

Now the final question is just the RHS (drivers side) cubby hole storage which has a cargo net partition 'wall' in some models but mine is just open and therefore a bit pointless.

Its not that they cannot get them (forever). Its just that the current stock at VWGroups warehouse is/ has been wrong to part number. They've been supplying some course threaded tapping screw instead of the M6x12 countersunk bolt that is needed (pt. no. N10456004)
The current 'curry hook' part number is 1k5867615, and should be available from VW, Audi and Skoda. You'll also need clips N90156103 (x2 for each hook) and screws N01396921 (x2 for each hook).
    Very easy retrofit.
Prices are what Stevenmartin01 has been quoted.
I've got the floor anchors. - I've yet to use them.
