When are you planning on going???

I'd suggest the North Wales Coast. or the Peak district. There are loads of little sites around Towyn and Abergele to choose from... not sure they're really idyllic though.... I know of one in abergele that is set inside the grounds of an old castle.... thats quite nice and it's only a 10 min walk to the nearest little pub and supermarket.

The lake district is probably best for that sort of thing but i've never been so can't help you on that one.

Not sure the weather is right at the moment for camping though....s'pose you could always keep each other warm ;-)

I've just come back from Weymouth (south coast) where i was planning on camping for a week...Got a call half way down there sayin the field was water logged, so i stayed in a caravan for the weekend instead.

The Peak District is VERY close isn't it?

I'd also echo Nick above and suggest North/Central Wales if you can drive that bit further. There's some beautiful lakes and stuff around there. PM me if you want some destinations as I have family there

Camping is pretty cheap wherever you go, it depends on what you're looking for in a site.

My first holiday without my folks was in a Pontins/Haven place where I pitched my own tent with a few mates. We took three disposable BBQs to cook all our food on for a week (half a BBQ a day). It ranks up there as one of my best ever holidays and I don't think I spent more than £20 for the whole week.

It was so long ago I had to get a bus to the campsite and a letter from my parents to say they gave their permission for me to be there!

The downside was the amount of "undesirables" you find on those all-in-one places.

If you go camping, how do you order room service??
You may think I'm being helpful yet sarcastic, this is only because I feel I need to help you to help yourself in the future
