Supagard is it worth it?

The dealer is trying to sell me the Supagard treatement on my new car. The money is not the issue, I am more concerned about whether the treatment works and with it, where it is worth the money.

Has anyone here had it added to their car and if so, is it worth it?

No. Not even close. The kit costs dealers £10-20. My guess if you're being charged hundreds? Get a detailer out and get them to put a good sealant on by machine. Much better results and can be topped up by you. The longevity claims are completely untrue. It lasts no longer than a good sealant at a fraction of the cost.

As said already, it's a complete waste of money. Had it on a car once and didn't notice any difference at all. Use the cash to pay a detailer or to just buy some decent products and do it yourself.

Just shows you what the mark up is! ok maybe 2 hours labour at a push.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, from this can I take it that all these so called 'professional preperations' are not worth the money or just this one? My last A4 suffered a bit from stone chips and hence my interest as anything that will provide added protection to my new pride and joy.

What did not help of course was following a low loader which had not been cleaned and so was throwing all kinds of stuff at me whilst at the same time, I could not get out of the way so stones were just bouncing off my bonet!

To protect from stone chips you need to get a stone chip protection kit. They are transparent plastic with an adhesive on the back for various places on the car that's susceptible to stone chips. Your paint work has to be perfect before you fit them. I've seen loads of them advertised on ebay from Audi dealers for around £100 odd. They work and if fitted correctly you would hardly notice they are fitted, but its the stuff you need to protect your pride and joy.

I should add that whilst the product itself only costs a couple of quid, there is a cost in having someone in the know apply it properly. There is also the question of reputation in that would Audi allow a dealer to promote a sub standard product on a mechanical masterpiece???

Audi have enough sub-standard issues of their own to worry about. If a franchise (dealers aren't Audi) wants to add services then that's down to them.

I'd just get a trusted valeter to put a good shield on rather than Audi bringing in someone unknown and no doubt having a big markup.

Or hang around and see who they use and get them to do it privately
