    Hi all,

Probably a stupid question, but how can I tell if my MMI is Basis or Basic Plus? What are the differences? Would TMC be available to both of these? It's just that when I'm using the Satnav, whichever radio station I'm tuned to comes up saying that there's no TMC available.

Also, does anyone know how much it's likely to set me back to upgrade to MMI High, so that I have colour street view maps on the screen when using Satnav?

    Thanks.

Not sure how much it is to upgrade to High but I'm sure there are alot of £££ involved!

What version of sat nav disks do you have? TMC only worked for me when I brought later disks.

    Basic Plus had Sat Nav.

The quesiton is whether you have the colour MMI screen or not.

    Colour screen means MMI high.

To upgrade form low to High will cost you over £1000 if you use second hand parts and do the labour yourself.

If you are not technical, and do not have access to VCDS & a dealer to unlock the component protection, don;t even bother trying it.

If you pay a specialist, you are looking at about £2.5k all in.

If you are still hell bent on doing it, you might as well just get MMi 3g instead as it has built in hard drive and a better Nav system. Again, it will cost about the same.

Personally, I would just get a car with MMI high int he first place (that what I always reccomend) as the difference in price of the actual cars (with/without MMI) is not huge.

It's definitely not MMI High as it's the red/black screen, and I know it's 2G due to the age of the car, but I don't know how to tell the difference between Basic & Basic Plus.

And on the upgrading issue - Wow! That's a lot more than I bargained for. Too many £££ for me anyway. When I'm trading in for a newer model after the HP is paid off, I'll know what to look for next time. Not sure what version of CD it is as the dealer I bought from didn't have the original, so they just got someone to burn me a copy.

Thanks for your answers so far guys.
