Hi all,
Have a R reg A4 2.4 petrol saloon, 114k on the clock. Yesterday, just as I was to set off to an important meeting, car wouldn't start. Turned over healthily, but wouldn't fire.
Took a taxi to meeting and when I got home tried again and started first time. Drove to chip shop and when I came out, guess what? wouldn't start again. Rang AA and told 1 hours wait. Tried a few times with no joy, and then after 30 mins or so, it started first time.
As it happens, am going on holiday on 20th so have booked car in for a service on Tuesday. Trouble is, with sporadic, I assume. electronic problems I have no confidence that fault will be found when serviced.
I read somewhere on this forum somewhere, that the immobiliser coil reader can cause problems following adjusting the steering column. Last weekend, on a long trip back north from Guildford, I adjusted the column. Is this likely to be the problem?
Now feel very nervous about taking the car on the ferry to Zeebrugge next Friday if the car's not gonna start.
I'm hoping that if i teel the dealer, they will do a diagnostic check and see an "event's log" and find the problem.
Any help would be most appreciated.
