    Hi all

does anyone know what the part number for the suspension air compressor is on a 2003 Allroad. I ordered one from my parts supplier and they sent an air con compressor out. They cant get the suspension compressor without a part no. Also any names of manufacturers of the after market compressors would be really helpful.

The part number for the suspension compressor is 4Z7 616 007A. the original was a continental, I don't think these are available any more, then Wabco and now Arnot offer a replacement also one claiming to be OEM found here on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/compressor-air...item5d29f5f6a8 £396. google or ebay brings them up.

I don't think local motor factors will supply them.

    regards

    Andy

I wont change it until I am satisfied that I have no leaks and that everything is working as it should be . The fact that it is noisy is helpful at the moment as I can monitor how often it cuts in . It is getting very agricultural though I know the bose stereo is good but even it is struggling to drown out the compressor so I assume it is only a matter of time .

don't rush into buying one, I think you previousy said it was running too much, this could be another fault, get the fault codes, however if it is noisy it could well be needing replaced but personally I would leave it until it gives in, Unless it is really, really, really noisy!!

when buying from ebay, the link i sent is a direct replacement, straight swap, beware others do not have the thermal cut of switch and need plugs and cables cut and swapped over, if you need a new one, choose wisely.

Yes, this is probably, (not definately) due to the window clip being broken which stops the window being pulled right up into the seal,

to check try to see if the window will go higher into the rubber, with the door open and a hand on each side of the glass, can you lift the glass further to stop the whistle?.

My drivers one did this, it was more obvious on the pass side as the window would jam when raising.
The part is very cheap to buy from audi, part number 4B0 837 463B (£2.20 + VAT), see link to thread: https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...c-window-on-A6

Well, firstly, I'm suurprised you can hear any wind noise above the diesel engine (not to mention the compressor!), unless we're talking three figures?

It could just be adjustment... See if you can trap a business card all around the door seal. If it falls out anywhere, and it looks proud on the outside, there's your problem.

The striker plate can be adjusted to pull it in a bit, but if you've run out of adjustment (and the seal is in good condition) it might be time for a new name in the log book..
