    Hi all,

I am about to buy the above, its a really clean one owner estate with FSH (Indy) 1st service at 18k, 2nd at 36K 3rd at 56k.

I am getting an independant inspection carried out prior to purchase, I am spending my entire budget and have read some terrifying post here re injector, oil pump among other failures. I sold my x-trail because it was starting to go wrong and don't want the passat to be worse!!

I use the 3.2 V6 passat in work and it get driven extremely hard, I have seen it indicate 159 mph. This is the primary reason for purchasing the Passat as they have been ultra reliable when most cars would have died.

Its a question that has been asked before and no doubt asked again...... is the BKP engine as bad as everyone says?? I am seriously considering the 1.9tdi instead.

I was over the moon at finding the car I wanted and now so dissapointed at the reviews re reliability, I hate the internet (except xnxx )

    Luck of the draw!

You tend to read about failures but theres loads of these run to high mileages without issue.

1.9 is more reliable but that doesn't mean you couldn't get one that's going to **** it's turbo.

    Just enjoy your car imo.

I've done about 210k in 2 different Passats hammering BKP engines hard, i've had no problems.. Just make sure its been serviced and had the recalls done. I would have no hesitation in getting one.

IMHO you only read about the horror stories in forums like this, there are hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers including me.

No matter which car you search on the internet it comes up with horror stories, however a 07/04 audi a4 avant with fsh in pristine condition with 68k turned up and i bought it instead. Thanks for ur replies but i wouldn't have enjoyed owning the passat. Every funny rattle would have my nerves in shreds!!
