Good morning to you all, after a little advice if at all possible.

I have just sold my A3 Sportback S-Line as we are moving house and need to free up spare cash (Fast growing family)

I sold the car private to a chap and his wife who came and viewed the car and agreed a deal we were both happy with.

Literally 7 days after the sale I get a call from him telling me he's had the car serviced by a friend who works at a main dealer and its not good news.

He thinks I've shifted the car as I knew about a problem with the Flywheel being worn/damaged as his friend at the main dealer said it knocks when you turn the car off? or something of this description
The car has only covered 65,000 miles and Audi have advised him not to drive it as if the Flywheel breaks it will destroy the engine.

It's apparently an 8 hour job and will require a new clutch while being sorted so he's looking at a hefty bill and wants me to help with the costs.

I advised (on my kids life) I knew nothing at all about this problem and I would have not sold the car private if I had!

Can anyone advise on this matter, do flywheels wear like this after 65000 miles?

    Many kind regards

Hi, it all depends on how its used. But 65K is early for a Flywheel failure. I`ve not done a clutch on this model, but, if they quote 8 hours to do it its a bit excessive to me ( i know they use standard times !), i could do 2 truck clutches in that time !haha!
Its one of those things ! Its a shame, but if the guy wanted a guarantee, a dealer would have been a better bet to buy a car.

Are you talking about the dual mass flywheel here?

It sounds a bit suspicious to me, with his "friend" from a main dealer describing these problems, don't you think...?
    Some info that should help:
