    Hi all,

My wife was about to drive home from work the other night - when she started up the car (Golf Mk4 V6 4motion, 2002, 52 plate, 53000 miles) she was greeted by a barcode on the dash display which then changed to text saying:

    Test 1 ok
    Test 2 ok
    Test 3 ok
    Test 4 ok
    Test Complete

As puzzled as she was by this, she let the routine complete to the 'Test Complete' bit and left it a minute before switching the car off. ('Test Complete' remained on the screen)

She restarted the car and it started normally with no odd displays.

My question is: what the hell was this and is there anything to be concerned about?

My personal opinion is that it's some sort of self diagnostic routine, but having never seen it before I'm a bit confused about it.

Can anybody shed any light on this one?

    Thanks in advance!

Anybody got any ideas about this one?

Your input would be greatly appreciated!

By the way - it's not happened again (well, not yet anyway!)

My Old Laguna had a test mode that I stumbled upon by pressing the start button lots of times as i started it.

Maybe she did the same sort of thing but with other buttons.

That could be a possibility prolfe.

Maybe she's pressed one of the keyfob buttons at the same time as starting the engine?

I must try that at some point and see if I can repeat the 'phenomenon'!

    Cheers for your input!
