    Hi,
My wife has a B5.5 TDI and the engine cover vibrated badly even though all the nuts are tightened down. Is there any mod that can cure this? Like packing out with rubber?

Do any of you suffer from this?

    Cheers for any help

The rubber bushes wear, it can usually be fixed by fitting bigger washers.

New engine cover rubber bushes are cheap and easily replaced as a first fix. If still vibrates do as Yaman suggests with bigger washers added. Does help to use plastic ties to fix any other pipes etc that contribute to other noises which can be several.

I use the reuseable ties that can easily be undone when needed.

Take it off and throw it away, they only cut through the vacuum pipes and get in the way every time you work on the engine!

Don't 'throw it away'...recycle it. Takes all of a minute to remove and refit! Cuts the vibration for sure and saves weight but delivers more noise?

The choice is yours as always!

Only shredding I've had under the bonnet has been mice! First time they attacked the bulkhead sound deadening panel behind the header tank and last winter took out the black foam panel that fits around the cam cover. Cost me nearly £50 for a new one. On balance I would rather keep the engine cover although I can appreciate your solution would sort my problem too!
